My cross cultural experience:

I did my cross cultural experience through Brethern Colleges Abroad in which i studied for a semester at Macquarie University in Sydney Australia. Those six months were some of the best times of my life!

My favorite class at EMU (and why):

My favorite class at EMU so far has been Developmental Biology because learning about the intricate way in which the human body develops gives substantial evidence to an all knowing God who created us as these amazing and complex creations in his own image! Plus I love celluar and human biology, and I just can’t ever get enough of it!

My favorite campus activity:

Campus Movies are great because they are conveniently close and conveniently cheap! Intramural sports are another great one! Having fun with friends while competing is a great combination!

My favorite intramural season:

Probably dodgeball. I play softball so I would consider myself pretty proficient in dodgeball, which makes it fun. Floor hockey is another good one.

My favorite reason to get off campus:

There are so may things to do in and around Harrisonburg and the closeness of DC and Charlottesville provide plently of opportunities. Getting off campus helps give a good balance between school work and fun. Volunteering, I’ve found, is a great way to connect with the broader community and has greatly aided in my college experience.

My favorite residence hall:

Hillside suites are amazing. While the Woods are a great and exciting place to live, there is just something about being able to cook your own meals, clean your own space, and have your own showers and bathrooms makes you feel slightly more like your truely becoming an adult :-) Having so many friends in such close proximity allows for all kinds of activities. Everything from suite-suite pregressive meals, movies nights, hallway bowling, sliding down the stairs on mattresses, and as always, the practical joke wars between suites provides for never-ending fun. It is such a great atmosphere and has a really unique community feeling.

The most surprising thing about EMU:

The most suprising thing about EMU is the amount of opportunities available to get involved in. From campus clubs, to sports, to intramurals, to campus activities there is always something to do. I’ve found that my best experiences come from getting involved on campus and having in impact on campus life!
