Expectations of EMU

Agency Resource Directory The CL office will list your agency and its service needs in a directory made available to EMU community-learning classes and interested EMU students, faculty and staff. --- Interest Forms The CL Professor may use these forms to aid students in the placement process and to provide agency partners with background information on their service-learners. --- Placement The CL Professor will match the EMU student's interest with the partner agency's needs. --- Preparation Meetings The CL Professor and students will review together the Service Code of Responsibility, reflection, and how to report their service hours. Each community-learner will be given information about their placement agency and how to begin their service experience. --- Orientation Sessions If desired, the CL Professor will coordinate with agency supervisors to facilitate on-campus orientation sessions. --- Communication The CL Professor will serve as the link between the community agency and EMU. --- Support The CL Coordinator, Marta Frederick, will strive to provide additional support services that will meet both the agency's and the community-learner's mutual needs. --- Meeting Agency Needs It is the goal of CL to meet the agency's needs. Agency Needs" and "Special Projects" forms are available for posting new information and special project opportunities. Look for the links below. --- Resources EMU may be able to provide resources available on campus, such as room space to agency partners. --- Evaluation If desired, the CL Professor can provide agencies with feedback on their community-learner's experiences. --- EMU Information If desired, EMU the CL Professor can provide an EMU calendar and additional relevant information to agency partners.


Expectations of Community-Based Agency

Information Provide current information to CL Professor about the agency's mission, service needs, and special projects. Any changes in e-mail address or phone numbers should be communicated immediately to ensure ongoing and clear communication. See links below for a quick update. --- Orientation Session Provide one agency orientation session per semester. Provide students with clear expectations and training. --- Communication Provide on-going feedback to the student and the CL Professor about the student contributions to the agencyís needs. --- Supervision / Mentoring Provide an agency contact person that the community-learner can turn to for assistance and advice. Meet (one-on-one or with a group) at least once a month with the community-learner. --- Reflection / Education Agency partners are an intregal part of a studentís learning. Supervisors/Mentors should meet on a regular basis with community-learners to guide the students in thinking about their experience in relation to their classroom learning, personal development, and civic involvement. --- Evaluation Provide community-learners and CL professors with evaluations of the student's service experience. Provide the CL Professor with feedback about the services provided. --- Agency Information Provide calendar and additional important information.
