
EMU's Crisis Management Preparedness Team meets regularly to review policies, discuss crisis scenarios, work through communication plans and process all things related to potential campus crises.
In summer 2007, members of the team participated in a staged shooting drill planned by Harrisonburg City Police. Here, Lt. Kurt Boshart of the police department, confers during the drill with Ken L. Nafziger, EMU vice president of student life, and Eldon Kurtz, EMU physical plant director and manager of campus security measures.
In spring 2006, EMU President Loren E. Swartzendruber gave a mandate to Ken L. Nafziger, vice president for student life, to create a comprehensive crisis preparedness plan. The resulting Crisis Management Preparedness Team (CMPT), includes:
