Washington Community Scholars' Center (WCSC)

This study service program fulfills the EMU cross-cultural requirement, includes an internship (20 hrs/wk) and weekly seminars taught by EMU faculty, and may include coursework at local universities. The study group of 10-15 students lives together in a house in Washington, D.C. Contact the if you are interested in visiting the program. Applications for fall, spring, and summer are accepted on a rolling basis.

Central America Study and Service (CASAS)

CASAS is the language study base for our Central America semester program. This is an arm of the Latin American Anabaptist Seminary (SEMILLA). Semester and summer programs offer a variety of emphases including Spanish, peace and justice, development, missions, sociology and social work. Based in Guatemala City, CASAS provides an in-country orientation, homestays and numerous specialized field trips.

To register for CASAS, EMU students should begin by filling out the CASAS registration form online. For credit for summer program classes, students submit an EMU summer school registration form that is designated "CASAS" and signed by Cross-cultural Programs director. Students pay the EMU summer tuition rate per each credit hour and are responsible to arrange and pay for their transportation to and from Guatemala.

The CCCU offers several one-semester study programs (16 semester hours of credit) in other countries. Locations include China, Latin America, England and the Middle East. More information is available from the CCCU web site.

  International Business Institute (IBI)

IBI is a 10-week program of business study in Europe. Twelve semester hours of credit may be earned in this summer program.

Brethren Colleges Abroad (BCA)

BCA offers semester and year-long study abroad opportunities in France, Germany, Spain, Ecuador and Mexico for foreign language majors and minors. BCA also offers study abroad options that do not have a language prerequisite. These locations include China, Japan, India, Greece and England. Mennonite Service Programs

Mennonite Central Committee offers an 11-month program that will satisfy the EMU cross-cultural requirement: Service and Learning Together (SALT). Academic credit must be arranged in advance through the Academic Affairs Office.

The Intermenno Trainee Program is another option. This program is not officially a program of MCC; it is a 12-month program of the Intermenno Trainee Committees of Europe.
