Eastern Mennonite University

At EMU, we're committed to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God." That's true on our campus in Virginia, in the local Harrisonburg community, and thousands of miles around the world.

Do Justice

Hiking in Wadi Quelt, the Biblical route from Jerusalem to Jericho

"There is something special about reading a Biblical story while standing where it happened. For the rest of my life, I will read the Bible differently."

Our cross-cultural program allows students to build relationships with people different from themselves. Our grads learn to see the world through new eyes, inviting new perspectives and new solutions to age-old problems.

Love Mercy

EMU prepares students to offer "healing and hope in a diverse world." Through building cross-cultural awareness, students learn to see beauty where others may not, to feel compassion for people from all walks of life, and to offer a healing touch, hand of support and prayer of thanks.

Walk Humbly

People who have participated in an EMU cross-cultural often have a keen sense that we in North America don’t have the answers to all the world’s problems.

Living and learning in a new culture often raises more questions than answers, and that means our graduates are developing valuable critical thinking skills that will make them strong leaders in their communities and workplaces.
