A Call to Stewardship

EMU Professor Lin Stutzman baptizes student John Tyson in the Jordan River

"The journey we are sharing is something special... Traveling with this group has been the place where I've been most at home with God and the world."

-Student John Tyson was baptized on Easter Sunday in the Jordan River by faculty member Linford Stutzman while on Middle East cross-cultural. A gift from your tax rebate helps make experiences like this possible for EMU students!

Soon you’ll get a tax rebate - maybe just $300, maybe $1,200, maybe even more* - from the federal government that you hadn’t counted on receiving.

The government would like you to spend that money on things. We’d like you to invest it in the lives of worthy students.

Each year, dozens of prospective students cannot attend EMU because they need more financial aid than is available.

Invest Your Rebate

Your gift to the EMU 2008 Economic Stimulus Grant Fund will be used 100% for financial aid awards for undergraduate, seminary and Center for Justice and Peacebuilding students.

You’ll change the direction of someone’s entire life. In doing so, you’ll be helping to re-shape the world, bringing it closer to the vision of Christ.

More than 7,500 alumni and friends will receive nearly $5 million in rebates. With just $300,000, EMU can offer $5,000 in financial aid to 15 students for four years! Fifteen students who would have missed a life-changing experience at EMU without your contribution…

You can call (800) 368-3383 or contact us directly:

*Most individuals will receive $600. Most married couples will receive $1,200 as well as $300 for each dependent child.

**You will not have to pay federal taxes on this rebate. You may count the rebate as a deduction in your tax return. If a married couple in the 25% bracket who itemizes their taxes donates their rebate to EMU, they will receive an additional $300 tax deduction for 2008.
