EMU Network Connectivity for Campus Visitors
Welcome to the EMU campus, we hope you enjoy your visit. If you need to connect to our network for access to the Internet or for other resources please follow the directions below. If you need assistance you may contact the EMU Information Systems Helpdesk by calling 432-4357, or 4357 from any on-campus phone. You may also visit the Helpdesk on the first floor of the Campus Center, located next to the Financial Aid office, or email us at helpdesk@emu.edu.
If you bring a laptop on campus we strongly encourage you to have an updated anti-virus application running on it.
Wireless Connections
EMU offers wireless access to guests in the Campus Center 1st floor, Library main floor, Lehman Board Room (Campus Center 3rd floor), University Commons (including the Snack Shoppe) and Common Grounds Coffeehouse. To use these connections stop by the IS Helpdesk, the Library Reference Desk, or the Conferences and Events office, to find out the current WEP key.
Wired Connections
There are various wired connections around campus to connect your laptop to (using a standard ethernet cable). These connections are in the Library, Snack Shop, and Common Grounds Coffee Shop. All of these connections will enable you to connect to the Internet. All live network connections mentioned in the above areas are marked with a blue tab on the wall jack. If you find a live connection that does not seem to work please contact the IS Helpdesk.
Labs
In order to use any lab computer on campus you must login to each terminal with a valid EMU network account. Stop by the IS Helpdesk for guest account information. Network guest accounts will give you access to the lab computers, and enable you to print. If you are part of a larger group please contact the Conferences and Events office for your login information.
LCD Projectors
Most classrooms and some conference rooms have projection stations in them. If you will be using a classroom projection station you must have use a guest account to login to the terminal. Please stop by the IS Helpdesk for guest account information. If you are part of a larger group please contact the Conferences and Events office for your login information. If you experience problems with a projection station please contact our Learning Resources department (432-4269, learningresources@emu.edu).
Dorms
Wired dorm connections are available to conference guests staying in Northlawn or Hillside for a fee of $10. Please contact Conferences and Events to request this service.
EMU Information Systems
recommends that you use a web based email client while on campus and provides
limited support for non-web based mail clients (Outlook, Thunderbird, OS X mail,
etc...).
